It’s never a bad idea to have additional safety precautions when deploying code.
Although I have worked on Acquia’s platforms for years, I find there is always room for improvement from any vendor’s offerings. One thing I wish I could improve would be a way to give a visual indicator for environments. Labels go a long way, but a visual indicator with some color can offer additional help. After all, it’s good to do all you can to ensure you don’t accidentally push code to the wrong environment in the middle of the day or something.
Not that this has happened to me, of course. Ahem.
To combat this, I created Whoa Buddy, which provides a visual warning for production environments in Acquia. If your environment includes the word “prod” in the label, Whoa Buddy will give a distracting visual warning indicator to alert the one deploying code. There is a guard to skip over if you have an environment with the label of preprod, pre prod, or pre-prod, just in case you’re working on an enterprise project with that type of pre-deployment staging area.
